Gegan is a fast-growing waste management and recycling company based in Warwickshire. We’re specialists in the movement and secure destruction of packaged, non-packaged, and palletised food waste. We cover the whole of the UK and we insist on best practices across all our operations to ensure we offer optimum service.
We help businesses to develop sustainable solutions for their waste and recycling whilst reducing their carbon footprint.
What are the two core principles of Gegan?
Our core principles are zero waste to landfill and the focus on keeping it local.
Why local? We’re all about service, and we deliver on what we say we’re going to do. Our focus is on local businesses, and not large corporate companies. We use local suppliers even if it’s not as convenient to do so, because we focus on carbon footprint, rather than price and profitability.
Why zero waste? The harsh reality is we’re suffering the doings of our previous generations and need to avoid making the same mistakes and causing our children and grandchildren to suffer further. We’re accelerating the rates of pollution. Once the polar ice caps are gone, they’re gone. This is completely un-doable.
We don’t own this planet; we’re borrowing it for the future.
Who started Gegan?
Lee and Gareth are childhood friends who both have a passion for working towards a better, brighter future for the planet.
Lee Bush – Managing Director and Co-founder of Gegan
Lee started his career at the age of 14, working for the family business in the building trade until he was 18 years old. He then moved into the automotive industry covering a wide range of areas, from vehicle technician to vehicle and aftermarket sales. After 12 years he changed his career path into returnable bulk packaging working for CEVA container logistics and CHEP Pallecon Solutions working with a wide range of high-value corporate accounts, for example, Reckitt Benckiser, McDonald’s, Ford Motor Company, and Unilever.
After 6 years at CHEP, an opportunity opened for Lee to move his career into the waste management and renewable energy sector by working for Biffa waste service. He wasn’t there long before he knew that it was time for him to pursue the life goal of owning his own business. In 2012, Lee became self-employed, carving out his successful waste management and recycling business.
In his free time, Lee enjoys spending time with his partner, three children and the latest addition to the family Marley and, when possible, watching his beloved Manchester City play.
Gareth Meadows – Business Development Manager
Gareth started his career working in the field of estate agency covering a wide range of areas including sales, lettings, and financial services. He then moved to Southeast Asia where he continued in an estate agency, leading a successful sales team on several large-scale residential projects around Thailand. A move into financial services meant taking a role with a large ex-pat wealth management company managing investment accounts.
Gareth then moved to Vietnam where he opened and operated an English language learning centre later followed by the opening of a bilingual kindergarten. After ten years in Vietnam, Gareth and his family returned to the UK prompted by both the birth of his daughter and Covid-19 restrictions. He’s been with Gegan ever since.
In his free-time Gareth enjoys angling, watching football and long walks in the countryside in his native Lincolnshire with his dog Bobby.
